We are currently seeking a Workforce Development Specialist to join our Job Resource Center!

Working as a Workforce Development Specialist, you will design & implement the SBH HOPWA vocational services. Create, revise, disseminate information and train residents on vocational opportunities in response to current skills and desires. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with local employers and community providers to maximize the opportunities for persons in services to enter the labor force. Provide additional trainings, such as budgeting, dietary information, technical skills improvements, etc., to further promote the opportunities for employment and independence. Work with Maricopa Skill Center to increase opportunities for further education/skill sets.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the implementation of vocational activities in all for all HOPWA residents; collaborate with other providers to include participation of non-SBH residents.

  • Develops policies and procedures to support job development/job retention for PLWHA’s.

  • Works closely with the HOPWA Director and Program Coordinator to ensure that program content meets contractual requirements, meets the needs of PLWHA’s and complies with SBH policies and procedures.

  • Prepares and presents job readiness activities to PLWHA’s.

  • Provides “train the trainer” opportunities to other personnel and/or PLWHA’s.

  • Provides and documents supervision to residents on a regular, scheduled basis.

  • Updates housing plans according to progress and/or goals of the individuals.

  • Works with local service providers, case managers and employers to link PLWHA’s with vocational opportunities.

  • Advocates for PLWHA’s with local employers and community organizations.

  • Understands and implements services in accordance with City of Phoenix contract. Maintains ongoing communication with funding source(s) and regulatory bodies to ensure contract compliance.

  • Participates in local/national advocacy/public policy forums as appropriate to maintain up-to-date information regarding vocational services.

  • Undertakes training related special projects and provides technical assistance, as directed.

  • Prepares written reports as required by funding source(s) and SBH management.

  • Participates in agency-wide standing and ad hoc committees, as requested

  • Attends mandated training and compliance forums.

Education & Requirements:

  • Minimum requirement consists of a 21-year age

  • Associate’s degree and three years of full-time behavioral health experience or

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Human Services, Counseling and Psychology plus one year of behavioral health experience (preferred) OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to behavioral health totaling five years is acceptable.

  • Must have fingerprint clearance issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or be eligible to receive within eight (8) weeks of hire

  • Required to maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license and pass motor vehicle screening for insurance purposes in order to transport clients, based upon need/requirements of the clinic and/or program.
