Job Preview at a Glance:
The Crisis Unit provides behavioral health interventions in a structured, non-hospital setting that assists adults in resolving behavioral crisis. Services are provided in a locked facility with 24-hour nursing coverage on the premises, court ordered treatment is also provided.
The RN works as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team to provide recovery-based services in a secure environment for consumers in varying levels of crisis. Performs nursing assessment and medical service plan. Obtains and executes medication orders from psychiatric prescriber. Oversees and maintains medication and medication records in accordance with Agency policies and State regulations. Works with psychiatric prescriber monitoring medications. Coordinates medical care with psychiatric prescriber and PCP. Is responsible for the safe and productive operation of the program in service to the consumer according to Agency policy and procedure.
Location & Schedule:
This position reports to our Kingman Inpatient Facility working Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7am-7pm we offer shift differential and a $2k sign on bonus after 30 days of employment.
Pay: Starts at $40.00 per hour
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures adequate medication and supplies are on-hand, ordering prescriptions and stock as needed.
- Ensures quality consumer care, effective treatment, and demonstrates a model of professional conduct in assisting consumers in their recovery.
- Provides and supervises behavioral health, crisis intervention, assessment, intake and evaluation services according to company standards.
- Participates in Quality Management activities.
- Shares on-call responsibilities with Clinical Director, including being available to work any shift while on-call.
- Collects blood or urine specimens and arranges transport to lab as ordered by the prescriber.
- Completes clinical documentation and required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Monitors the quality and timeliness of documentation completed by clinical staff.
- Collaborates with clinical teams and case managers to advocate for the best interest of the consumer.
- Collaborates with Psychiatrist regarding psychiatric and medical problems and coordinates services needed, as well as obtains, monitors and accurately administers medications as ordered.
- Actively participates in daily staffing for the purpose of utilization review and discharge planning
- Attends all staff meetings.
- Orients new nursing staff and oversees orientation of BHT II, BHPP II and RSS staff, interns and students, and report progress to Nurse Manager.
- Engages in professional growth and continuing education activities beyond the minimum agency requirements.
- Providing therapeutic interactions and activities. Skilled in the use of approved CIRT and Seclusion & Restraint techniques, including using the least restrictive interventions appropriate for the situation.
- To ensure compliance & adequate services, additional job duties may be required to meet the needs of the program and or department.
Education & Qualifications:
- Required to be Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the State of Arizona.
- Post-degree experience of two years in the area of psychiatric nursing or Master’s Degree preferred
- Experienced in a community-based psychiatric practice is preferred.
- Documentation of education, relevant work experience, and credentials is required.
