Prevention Specialist
Southwest Behavioral & Health Service is seeking a Prevention Specialist to join our Prevention program! This is a full-time position.
About the position
In this position you will deliver prevention programs to children, youth, adults, and families to include but not limited to group, classroom, and prevention education presentations/sessions. Educate school and local communities on the function and importance of prevention.
Location: South 32nd St and East Broadway Rd in Phoenix.
What you will do:
- Assess, identify, and connect prevention program participants to community resources based on identified needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of prevention services through an Access database system.
- Implement activities and action steps in accordance with objectives in one or more of the following: Strategic Plan, Logic Model of Prevention, and Implementation Plan.
- Prepare and make available all substance abuse prevention and resource information materials.
- Transport participants to and from group meetings and other services, as needed.
- Contribute to the development and execution of marketing products, materials, and efforts pertaining to substance abuse prevention education and other marketing efforts and projects as assigned by Program Coordinator or Program Director.
- Conduct activities and action steps in accordance with the Implementation Plan.
- Facilitate Youth Ambassador afterschool activities.
- Deliver evidence-based programs and develop and deliver evidence informed workshops, presentations, and trainings for youth, parents and other targeted populations in Maricopa County.
- Participate in community health fairs and events to market substance abuse prevention programs and messages.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- The minimum requirement consists of a 21-year age
- High School Diploma plus a minimum of two years of related experience working with children, youth, and families in a school or community-based setting.
- Must have fingerprint clearance issued by Arizona Department of Public Safety of eligible to receive within eight (8) weeks of hire.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking preferred.
