We are seeking a Leave Specialist to join our Human Resources Department! This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.

As a part of our Human Resources team the Leave Specialist is responsible for performing leave administration, including FMLA and ADA. In this role you will be evaluating Certification of Health Care provider forms, conduct interactive process, ensure timely processing of leave processes, leave records management and benefits payments/enrollments.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the Company’s LOA policies and procedures, available benefits, eligibility and departmental/agency practices.
  • Ensure all leave requests follow company leave policies and are within compliance under federal and state guidelines and with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Monitors employee leave periods; identifies patterns, issues or concerns and partner with HR Business Partners for problem resolution.
  • Coordinate with Payroll regarding employee benefits, including PTO, catastrophic leave, COBRA and short-term disability benefits while an employee is on leave.
  • Coordinate return to work process.
  • Review and process ADA requests through the interactive process, documenting the steps taken and ensuring the correct individuals are involved in a determination on all accommodation requests.
  • Partner effectively with internal stakeholders and vendors.
  • Consult with Director of Total Reward and HRIS regarding escalations or guidance.
  • Counsels and educates employees and managers on leave of absence policies and procedures.
  • Update HRIS system with leave status and notify managers and HR Business Partners of resignation or terminations.
  • Professional, consistent, empathetic and responsive customer support.
  • Prepare leave tracking reports, agendas for weekly leave meetings and monthly VP Report.
  • Administers and coordinates the processing of FMLA and short-term/long-term disability benefits.
  • Tracks, audits, creates, sends and responds to LOA-related correspondence, forms and required documentation.
  • Addresses complex and potentially emotionally-charged issues with tact and understanding surrounding LOA with managers and employee’s resolution.
  • Collects benefit premiums and sends benefit termination notices as per Company policy.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma/GED
  • Requires two years of direct experience in benefits and LOA Administration.
  • Must be familiar with FMLA, ADA, USERRA, workers' compensation and disability programs.
