Job Preview at a Glance:

A Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops and administers the activities of crisis intervention and recovery services. These programs serve referred residents in a specific area that are requesting assistance with emotional or behavioral problems. Responsible for contributing to and creating a recovery based environment.

Location & Schedule:

Oversight of  2 Inpatient Locations. Monday through Friday with flexibility.

Starting pay: $115k

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the nursing services at the Community Recovery Unit and Recovery Transition Program.
  • Provides administrative and clinical supervision to the nursing staff and assists with the supervision of BHT/BHPP/RSS staff as needed. 
  • Participates in recruitment, hiring, and training of nursing and BHT/BHPP/RSS staff.  Monitors nursing protocols, procedures training and reporting. 
  • Ensures appropriate nursing coverage through recruitment, hiring, and training of Registered Nurses
  • Manages the nursing schedule (including internal on-call rotation) and works with registry agencies, travel nurse agencies, and any RNs on work agreement or part-time status; this may include working a shift if coverage is not available
  • Monitors laboratory services, medication use, and medical supplies. 
  • Assures all nursing care standards and documentation are in compliance. 
  • Works as a member of a clinical multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Consults with psychiatrist and Nurse Practitioner(s) in managing and monitoring care of clients in the program. 
  • Consults with psychiatrist and Nurse Practitioner(s) in the administration of medications, accepts medication orders from physicians and executes same. 
  • Oversees and maintains medication and medication records in accordance with Agency policies and State regulations.
  • Works with psychiatrist and Nurse Practitioner(s) in the monitoring of medications.
  • Assists Program Director in initiating licensing applications, supervises licensing surveys, and provides responses to licensing deficiency reports for the various programs.
  • Interacts with clients and staff within the programs on a regular basis and provides direct services as needed.
  • Maintains liaison with outside agencies by providing consultation where requested and having them participate in staff meeting when appropriate.
  • Represents the CRU’s and RTP in various community agency meetings.
  • Collaborates with Program Director to develop policy and procedures for program administration.
  • Attends/serves on agency committees when assigned.
      • To ensure compliance & adequate services, additional job duties may be required to meet the needs of the program and or department.

       

      Requirements: 

      • Requires and RN license, plus three years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Must be a registered nurse with five years psychiatric nursing experience.
      • Experience in crisis intervention and work with SMI population highly desirable.
      • Must demonstrate specialized experience in clinical and administrative supervision.
