Summary:

Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the clinical records system in accordance with State, Federal, contractual and organizational regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate clinical records in both electronic and hard file formats to include sorting, data entry, scanning, and filing.
  • Responds to internal/external inquiries regarding chart information in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Purges charts as directed by supervisor in accordance with State, Federal, contractual, and organizational regulations.
  • To ensure compliance & adequate services, additional job duties may be required to meet the needs of the program and or department.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to apply in-depth knowledge of medical record guidelines to determine course of action. ?
  • Working knowledge of general clerical duties such as filing, typing, copying, and scanning. ?
  • Proficient with MS Office, Outlook, database management, and spreadsheets etc. ?
  • Self-directed, detailed oriented, organized, and able to multi-task efficiently. ?
  • Communicates clearly and effectively. ?
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. ?
  • Ability to speak effectively 1:1 with co-workers, internal and external customers, and outside contractors and vendors. ?
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. ?
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Experience in clinical/medical record keeping in a behavioral health setting.

Education & Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • 1-3 years progressive administrative experience within a clinical environment preferred.
  • Requires prior clerical and/or customer service experience, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
  • Consideration given for course work in lieu of part of the experience requirements.
  • Performs data entry in a detail-oriented and thorough manner.
